For the people who don't ever need to look at the screen - why waste good battery power on keeping it alive? Our little Laptop Battery Saver  is a VGA adaptor that lets you use the external monitor key-combination on your laptop to switch the screen right off, and your laptop doesn't complain that there's no monitor there - the screen just obligingly blanks. And if someone comes along who does need to see the screen, the same key combination will usually return the screen to normal.
